View Current Classes Timetable Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement (Beginners to Advanced) These classes are run by a Feldenkrais Physiotherapist and are suitable for most people, from pain sufferers through to athletes and performing artists. People with chronic, persistent or recurring pain, movement or posture problems are welcome. By exploring gentle (but not necessarily simple!) movements you develop a more flexible mind and body, expanding your movement repertoire and freeing yourself from old habits. Particularly helpful for those needing to increase flexibility and let go of stress and tension, these interesting and innovative movement lessons help reduce pain, improve breathing and enhance body awareness. Most lessons are done lying on the floor on mats, which are provided at the classes. An individual assessment is recommended prior to commencing. MORE INFORMATION
Clinical Pilates Level 1 Floor Classes (Beginners) are suitable for those who need to work on strength and stability, relieve pain and improve flexibility. Great for improving posture and for learning to activate the 'core' muscles which stabilise the spine hips and shoulders. Partipants learn the main principles of Pilates and are coached in the basic techniques by an experienced Pilates Physiotherapist. Once you can consistently demonstrate correct technique, light weights may be added to increase your workload. There are 6 to 12 participants in each class and individual feedback is given, with opportunities to ask questions. An individual assessment is recommended prior to commencing, especially for those that are interested in rehabilitation from a pain or movement problem.
Clinical Pilates Level 2 Floor Classes (Intermediate) Level 2 classes are suitable those who already have mastered the beginners exercises in either the Studio or the Floor classes. These classes provide you with a stretching, strengthening routine on a fitball and are designed to further strengthen the core muscles and prevent pain and injury. Great for balance, coordination, flexibility and posture, Level 2 classes are unsuitable for those with anything more than mild, occasional pain. Clinical Pilates Level 3 Floor Classes (Advanced) These classes are suitable those who have attended at least one term of the Level 2 Pilates class. They may also be suitable for those who have a high level of physical fitness and have attended our Studio or Level 1 classes. A great way to prepare yourself for sporting activities, Level 3 introduces more challenging exercises, increasing the strength and endurance of your core muscles, while further developing your coordination and balance. Great for injury prevention, the Level 3 classes are not recommended for those with a current pain or movement problem. Pregancy and Postnatal Classes If you are pregnant or have recently had a baby you may be able to attend a special class with others in your situation or attend our Studio for an individually supervised programme.
